INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, a.k.a. "OLS", is a hands-on intoductory training to provide the Outdoor Leader Skills that gives adult leaders practical knowledge setting up a campsite, pitching a tent, hiking, outdoor cooking and all the skills necessary to see the outdoor program of BSA come to life. The course follows the Boy Scout Handbook to ensure new leaders are proficient in the basic outdoor skills through First Class rank. Participants gain comfort knowing they can show their Scouts how to accomplish outdoor skills while fulfilling rank requirements, as well as how to plan and carry out campouts and other exciting troop activities.
This course is required, along with Boy Scout Fast Start, Youth Protection, New Leader Essentials and Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific , to complete the Scoutmaster job specific training and be able to proudly wear the "Trained" strip on your sleeve.
