Special Events
Each year the Heart of America Council conducts special events to showcase to our community the positive impact of Scouting. These special events can raise money for specific purposes or can provide support for the general program delivery of Scouting in the Heart of America Council.
The Heart of America Council is pleased to announce that the Hall Family will be our 2010 recipients of our Distinguished Citizen Award. What a great way to highlight Scouting’s and Hallmarks 100th Anniversaries. Our relationship with the Hall Family and Hallmark goes back for many years. Hallmark was an initial funder establishing our Urban Scouting program in Kansas City, Missouri. This recognition is deserved not only for what Hallmark and the Hall family have done for Scouting but also what they do for the greater non- profit community in Kansas City. The dinner will take place on October 6, 2010 at the downtown Kansas City Marriott. General reception begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m.
The 2009 DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN AWARD DINNER was held Wednesday, October 14, 2009. The event honored David M. Lockton, Chairman of Lockton Companies for his support to Scouting and to the community. David has a long history with the Boy Scouts and his philanthropic endeavors have changed the face of Kansas City. This event raised over $471,000 and supports the Urban Scouting program that serves more than 17,110 young men and women in the urban core of Kansas City with Scouting's values based, character development programs. A highlight of the evening included the awarding of two $10,000 Eagle Scout scholarships to Eagles who have been served by our Urban Scouting program.
