Training is a vital part of the Scouting Program! Whether you just joined us as a new volunteer or your a seasoned member training is the most important thing that we can offer to our boys-Every boy deserves a trained leader!
The Heart of America Council is 100% committed to having ALL of our leaders fully trained for their position. Please take a moment to read Registered Leader Training Initiative as it affects every registered leader in the Heart of America Council.

ALL REGISTERED LEADERS MUST HAVE CURRENT YOUTH PROTECTION (CURRENT MEANING WITHIN THE LAST 2 YEARS) IN ORDER TO RE-REGISTER
NEW APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT PROOF OF HAVING TAKEN YOUTH PROTECTION
Training is broken down by whether your a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, or Venturing Leader. However, there are some courses that every leader needs to take. They are:
Youth Protection Training-this course is offered online at our BSA online learning center at www.myscouting.org This training is good for two years.
Fast Start Training-this course is offered online at our BSA online learning center at www.myscouting.org Be sure to take the right course based on what program you are in!
This is Scouting-(formally New Leader Essentials)-this course is offered through our online learning center at www.myscouting.org Please note: if you have taken New Leader Essentials you do not need to take This is Scouting.

Cub Scout Leader Training-in order for a Cub Scout Leader to be considered "fully trained" for thier position they need to complete the above courses along with completing the Cub Scout Position Specific Training which is only offered in a classroom setting. Other trainings for Cub Scout Leaders include BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) and Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders.

Boy Scout Training-in order for a Boy Scout Leader to be considered "Fully trained" the leader needs to take the above courses along with Scoutmaster/Asst. Scoutmaster (even if you are not in one of those positions), and Outdoor Leader Skills (OLS). Scoutmaster/Asst. Scoutmaster Training and Outdoor Leader Skills are only available in a classroom setting and OLS is a overnight campout. Troop Committee Challenge is available online.
Fall Boy Scout Training Dates
Outdoor Leader Skills Registration Form-Early departures will not receive full credit for the course
Den Chief Registration Form will be held on Saturday October 9th at 12:30 pm at Shawnee Riverfront Park
Health Form-Required for Outdoor Leader Skills Course; Need Part A and C; Bring with you to the Outdoor Portion of the training
Venturing Training-to be considered "fully trained" for your postion as a Venturing Leader you will need to take the above courses in addition to Venturing Youth Protection and Venturing Position Specific.
