Cub Scout Day Camp

Scouts Take Aim During Day Camp

The theme for the 2008 Cub Scout Day Camp program is "Spy Cubs". Council and District staffs are currently planning the programs for the thousands of Cub Scouts who will attend camp in the Heart of America Council. These Scouts shoot BB guns and bows and arrows; work on Webelos activity badges and Cub Scout belt loops; cook out; sing songs; learn about nature; make crafts; play games; learn about becoming a Webelos or Boy Scout and more! If you have not made plans to attend, you should! Going to camp is a wonderful part of the Scouting experience, and it helps your pack earn the Quality Unit and Summertime Pack Awards. The Pack must provide leadership and adult supervision for their Cub Scouts who attend Day Camp, plus arrangements for transportation to and from the camps. It is recommended that packs have at least one registered adult leader attend camp for every five to six boys sent by the pack. The minimum number allowed at any time is two, and one of these two must have completed Youth Protection Training. Everyone must complete a health information form to attend camp.

Trading posts are available at camp from which souvenirs can be purchased. Camps take place rain or shine, are easy to sign up for, provide a lifetime of treasured memories and are very inexpensive.

Who Can Attend?  Any registered Cub Scout (including kindergarten graduates) may attend day camp.

What Time Do They Start?
Most day camp programs start around 9:00 a.m. and end around 3:00 p.m. each day. They usually run for three to five days in a row. Your district will provide a Walking Leader’s Guide for your adults, which will have specific schedule of times and programs. If you do not know what district you are in or are unable to reach your district’s day camp director, please contact the Heart of America Council at 816-942-9333 or 800-776-1110. They will put you in touch with the District Executive serving day camp in your area.
